Get your shred on.

Posted by beth on April 5, 2009

Monday, April 6th, marks the first of the 30 day Shred Challenge.

What does this mean for you?  Lots of sweat, sore legs, burning arms, sore abs and maybe even some tears.  And no, I’m not trying to scare you, I’m just telling you what to expect.

But I want to tell you what else to expect.  (I started this challenge last week so I can tell you from personal experience a few things.  and yes, I went from couch potato to shredder, just like so many of you.)

Around the third day you can expect the soreness to subside some.

You can expect to feel a difference in your body within a few days

You can expect the workout to feel easier, your endurance to increase.

You can expect an increased energy level that will last all day long. (!!)

You can expect to feel really good about yourself for doing that thing that you’ve been putting off for way too long.

And at the end of the thirty days (YES, THIRTY DAYS IN A ROW, NO MATTER HOW SORE YOU ARE, I PROMISE, YOU’LL BE FINE.)  you can expect to see and feel like a brand new you.  A healthier you.  A happier you.  Your friends will notice, your family will notice and YOU will notice your change.

All of these good feelings will be worth the hundreds of push-ups and crunches you’ll  be doing over the next thirty days.

I promise.

Just don’t quit.  Don’t give up.  Keep going.

You can visit The Sisterhood and find that one of our beautiful (and slimming) bloggers will be writing a post each day to document their own personal experience with Shredding.  (remember, we are doing this, too!)   Feel free to jump in with the discussion in the comments sections and if you write a post on your blog, leave the link in the comments.

WE KNOW YOU CAN DO THIS.

Happy Shredding.

  • I just finished Day 1. I may or may not have:

    1. Taught Emma a new cuss word
    2. Peed my pants a little.
    3. Fallen over during the final stretching
    4. Died

LOL! I remember day one like it was only a few days ago. Oh wait -- it was! I totally did NOT get day 4 done yesterday, like I was supposed to. I worked too many hours, came home, downed a bowl of cereal, headed off to karate (which counts as a workout, right?), then came home and flopped on the couch for an hour or so before bed. So, today I'm off to start again!!!
  • Oh my gosh, Thea. You are a riot! Good for you! I finished day six today and within a few minutes I was in the shower and I felt great! It gets better, I PROMISE.

I'm on spring break this week so I thought it was a perfect time to start this challenge (also am trying to wean my baby off of nursing during the day, but that is another story)! I wasn't able to win one of the give aways, but Comcast On Demand has the workout (levels 1 & 2), so I can save a few bucks. I am assuming it is the same thing. I just don't know when you are supposed to jump to level 2. I did my workout today without weights (I didn't realize I needed them) and the cardio part kicked my ass. Haven't done jumping jacks in a bazillion years! Feel good though I know tomorrow will be sore!
  • I'm giving it a shot starting TONIGHT! I planned on starting later this week because my copy probably won't arrive until wednesday, but I just discovered it's on my Comcast ON Demand until April 21st for free!

Kinda wish I had known that before I ordered the DVD so I can see how I like it. Level 1 is available until the 21st, Level 2 until April 28th. I could have almost done the whole challenge without my own copy.

I am waiting on mine too

I just did my first Level One today. It was tough, but totally doable. I love 20 minute workouts! I am excited to be doing this with others.
  • Woo-hoo! I will be shredding just as soon as I get home from the gym. ;o)

I'm excited too! A little anxious : ). For me, the shredding will commence at 6:30am with my neighbor, fellow friend and sister- Amanda. We're gonna cuss at each othe and see who can drop the most "f" bombs.

Mine is supposed to come tomorrow, so I will start tomorrow night. I can't wait. I am not going to do it on Sunday, but I will do it every other day for 30 days. I am ready to be fit and tone.
It will help to do it with others also. Nice to know I'm not the only one who will be sore :)
  • Did the first day this morning and was definitely shaky for a couple of hours, but feel much better now. There were a few points I wanted to stop but pushed through, and I'm glad I did. 1 down, 29 to go!
  • Way to go, Erin! I'm so proud of you!!!!
  • Hopefully, my DVD will be coming tomorrow. Then I'm all over it like white on rice.
  • I'm ready. As a matter of fact, I'm excited. Thank you so much for being my inspiration. Joining you is one of the best things I have done for myself in a long time. Let the shredding begin.
  • I'm ready, too, Nancy! AND I'm excited!!! I'm so glad you've joined us for this challenge! It will be hard, but together, we CAN do it!!! We can do it for US!

Good luck tomorrow! I know we'll need it ;)
